A few select colleagues from Northern Ireland were pleased attended the recent Lidl celebration dinner which marked 25 years of the supermarket’s presence in Northern Ireland.

Team members from the Lidl Irish buying team joined other industry leads at the Ulster Museum in Belfast for a special meal, notable speeches, and a glitzy celebration evening. Key messages delivered were around sustainability, provenance, quality and of course best price for Lidl customers.

Colin Freeman, Sales Controller for Lidl, explained: “This was fantastic evening, not only was this a celebration of our incredible partnership but also a chance to learn about the future direction of Lidl. Currently Lidl have 41 stores in NI and by the end of 2024 this will move to 43. The target by the end of the decade is 50. In addition, they announced an additional investment of £130m over the next two years to support the revamp of some of their older stores.”

Pilgrim’s Europe is one of the top suppliers into Lidl NI with circa £13m of turnover per annum and have seen consistent growth over the past three years of circa £1m per year.

Colin added: “We want to thank the Lidl team for including us in this event and we look forward to growing our relationship further in the future.”
